Scotty Lee Lanter

Scotty Lee Lanter of Wilson, KS passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12th at the age of 37.

Scotty found pride and purpose in caring for his many patients over the past 18 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). He graduated from Wilson High School with the Class of 2006 and was accepted into the Seward County Community College Respiratory Program.  He later graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care.  He worked as a ‘traveling’ RRT supporting many hospitals across the country and enjoyed sharing his knowledge through various training programs and academic institutions.

Throughout his lifetime, Scotty found joy in spending time with his family and friends.  Growing up in a house full of sisters, he often sought solace at the family farm visiting with his grandparents as he was their favorite (only) grandson. He adored his mother, tolerated his sisters, and lived for his nieces and nephews. He had several lifelong friends and found a brother in David (Lacey) Soukup of Wilson, KS.

He is survived by his mother, Vickie Lanter of Wilson, KS; maternal grandparents Gerald and Sherrill Steinle of Wilson, KS; paternal grandparents Dick and Donna Lanter of Horton, KS; Sisters; Andrea (Michael) Gallagher of Davis, IL, Sarah (Luis) Lovato of Galva, KS, and Jenna (Casey) Lanter of Wilson, KS; Nieces and Nephews; Maddux, Macoy, Lindsay, Paige, Brooklynn, Violet, Cricket, Ellie, and Vivian.

He was proceeded in death by his best fur friend, Rowdy.

Caring for pediatric fighters was incredibly impactful to Scotty and therefore, the family has chosen St. Jude Children Center and the Ronald McDonald House as recipients for memorial contributions.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20th at 11am located at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth, KS. A short reception will follow at High Jinks Recreation Club
