ELLSWORTH
Robert A. “Bob” Bohata, 60, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026 in Salina, KS. He was born July 22, 1965 in Ellsworth to Emil and Ruth “Jody” (Fletcher) Bohata. Bob was a long-time resident of Ellsworth County, KS where he was a member of the Boy Scouts Troop 84, an organization that allowed him to develop his talents and interests. He was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and went on to earn degrees from Kansas Wesleyan University and Fort Hays State University. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lorraine. As an adult, Bob played the organ at many area churches. He also enjoyed botany and owned several rare plants.
Bob is survived by his sister Ruth Penner of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; nieces, Michelle Swanson (Ian) of Faribault, MN and Roxanne Hiede (Daniel) and their son Samuel of Niverville, Manitoba, Canada; and nephew Brian Penner of Blumenort, Manitoba, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Martin Penner.
A funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Lorraine First Baptist Church with burial following at Ellsworth Memorial Cemetery. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service at the church with family present to greet visitors.
