Richard Albert Saunders

  Richard Albert Saunders, 62, passed away May 19, 2022. He was born October 22, 1959 in Alexandria, VA to Carol Neal and Carolyn (Green) Saunders.

  Richard married Sherri Nelson on December 15, 1990 in Minneapolis, KS. He served his country on the USS Hoist in the US Navy. He was a member of the Marquette American Legion Post #253, National Rifle Association, American Vets, Salemsborg Church, Fleet Tug Association, and a past commander of American Legion Post #140 in Lindsborg, KS. He was also head of engineering at the El Dorado National bus company, Saline County Highway Department.

  Richard is survived by his wife, Sherri Saunders of Marquette; brother, Mike (Susan) Saunders of VA; sister, Terri (Dave) O’Neal of VA; brother, David (Donna) Saunders of VA; sister, Cyndi (Bill) Brazell of South Carolina; sister in law, Terri (Greg) Barraclough of Lincoln, KS; and brother in law, Randie Nelson of Kanopolis, KS. He was preceded in death by his sister, Diana Saunders; nephew, Dusty Wilson; brother in law, Ronnie Nelson; sisters in law, Lethea Nelson and Susan Saunders; and parents in law, Clifford and Ruthie Nelson.

  Memorial service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, Smolan, KS.
