Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Friend

  Joan Jean Farres Roehrman, age 91, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, surrounded by her children. She leaves behind a lifetime filled with love, laughter, cherished memories, and a family who will carry her love in their hearts for generations to come.

  Joan was born on September 19, 1934, to Hubert Lillis and Esther Olga (Krause) Farres. She grew up in Woodbine, Kansas, and was the youngest of 10 children. From an early age, family was at the center of Joan's life, a theme that would continue throughout her many years.

  On June 26, 1952, Joan married the love of her life, Charles Roehrman. Together, they built a beautiful life and a family that grew far beyond what they could have imagined. During their 68 years of marriage, they welcomed three children, Rick, Mark, and Lisa, and eventually became the proud grandparents of eight grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.

  Being a wife was an important part of who Joan was, and being a mother was one of her greatest joys. She devoted herself to her family and was someone her children could always count on. But perhaps nothing brought Joan more joy than being a “Nannie.”

  She adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment she spent with them. Whether it was family gatherings, holidays, birthdays, watching them participate in activities, sharing a meal, or simply sitting together and talking, she cherished the time she had with each of them. Joan had a special way of making people feel loved and welcome. She understood that some of life's greatest treasures are found in the simple moments: a full house, a family gathered around the table, a good conversation, and the sound of everyone laughing together.

  Joan is survived by her children, Rick (Ellen) Roehrman of Woodland Park, CO, and Lisa (Wayne) Rohr of Manhattan, KS; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Esther; her siblings; her beloved husband, Charles; and her son, Mark.

  Joan leaves behind much more than memories. She leaves behind the traditions she helped create, the lessons she taught, the laughter she shared, and—most importantly—a family whose lives were forever shaped by her love.

  A celebration of life service will be held on Joan’s birthday at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth, KS with a luncheon following at the Kanopolis Methodist Church. A private family inurnment will take place at Woodbine Cemetery at a later date.
