Jack William Sanders was born May 1, 1931 in Ellsworth, Kansas. The son of Oscar and Roletta (Brown) Sanders. He was a graduate of Kanopolis High School, Class of 1949
Jack enlisted in the army and served in the Korean War and came home on November 4, 1953 and was a reservist for eight years. He began working for the Kansas Department of Transportation in Ellsworth, then later years transferred to Salina KDOT and retired after 42 years.
On February 14, 1954, Jack was united in marriage with Alice (Blehm) Sanders at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wilson, KS.
As a 30-year resident of Kanopolis, and a 20-year resident of Salina, KS; Jack and Alice moved to Silvercrest Assisted Living Center of Lenexa, KS in December 2018.
His early years were filled with family camping trips and DIY projects. Later years, he and Alice enjoyed delivering vehicles and traveling to casinos.
Jack passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, his parents and three siblings.
Survivors include his son, Rocky Sanders (Ginger) of Chapman, KS; daughters, Sherri Palermo (Dave) of Lenexa, KS and Debbie Bishop (Kelly) of Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Elain Anspaugh (Jack) of Smithville, MO.
