LORRAINE
Herbert “Herb” Dean Perkins, 69, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2024 in Ellsworth, KS. He was born July 30, 1955 in Ellsworth to Charlie “Choc” Perkins and Elda (Janzen) Perkins. Herb was a 1973 graduate of Geneseo High School. He married Janice Allen at the Geneseo Methodist Church in Geneseo, KS on October 20, 1973. He worked as a mechanic for Ref-Chem for twenty years, as lead welder at Moly Mfg. in Lorraine, KS for over ten years, shop foreman for HD Steel and then Cashco in Ellsworth retiring in 2017 after seven years. He was a loyal member of the Lorraine Fire Department from 1973 to 2017, a member of the Odin Saddle Club and El-Kan Western Riders, and a longtime 4-H supporter. In his early years, he broke horses. In his later years, his passion was his grandkids.
Herb is survived by his daughter Kimberly Travnichek (Joe) of Lorraine; son Dustin Perkins (Elizabeth) of Lorraine; grandchildren, Wyatt (Kennedy), Kash, and Shylo Travnichek, Annabelle, Jane, and Luke Perkins, Cassie and Billy Duncan, and bonus granddaughter Becca Stratmann; great grandchildren, Brody, Paisley, Mayvie, Watson, and Emery; mother Elda Perkins of Geneseo; and sister Cindy Perkins-Wereley (Brian) of San Antonio, TX. He was preceded in death by his father Choc Perkins; wife, Jan Perkins; infant son Jerry Grant Perkins; and brother Charles Perkins.
Visitation: 1-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth with family present 6-8 p.m.
Funeral service: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Lyons First Baptist Church. Prior to the service, a private family burial will take place at Lorraine Baptist Cemetery.
