HOLYROOD
Glenn R. Reed, 81, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026 with his family at his side. He was born June 11, 1944, the sixth child of Ralph and Ruby (Tenhulzen) Reed. Glenn attended Wichita West High School and graduated with an associate’s degree from Hutchingson Community College. He also earned a diploma from the Faith Bible Institute. Glenn served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era and earned an honorable discharge in January of 1969. He married Jenny Lee Hurd in 1966. They just recently celebrated 60 years of marriage. The couple was blessed with two daughters and later adopted their nieces. They raised their family in McPherson, KS then moved to Virginia and later to Traverse City, MI to follow career opportunities. After their retirement, the couple returned to Kansas to make their home in Holyrood. Glenn served as Chaplin in the Holyrood American Legion Post 200 and the Kansas 6th District American Legion. He also transported senior center meals for several years. Glenn acknowledged his belief in Jesus Christ as his savior and counted his baptism in June 2010, a pivotal day in his life. He was a faithful Bible reader. In his younger years, Glenn loved hunting, fishing and camping. In his later years, he found talking as a sport. Glenn never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with someone because of their team shirt or hat.
Glenn is survived by his wife Jenny of Holyrood; daughters, Brandy Mulvaine (Roger) of Traverse City, MI, Tressa Shramek (Mark) of Holyrood, Tonya Romriell (Neal) of Blythwood, SC, and Tasha Lopez (Miguel) of Roanoke, VA; along with nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
