Carrol Faye (Wanek) Hochman

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA

  Carrol Faye Hochman, 90, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024 in San Juan Capistrano, CA. She was born October 17, 1933 in Ellsworth, KS to James Jerry Wanek, Jr and Stella (Pechacek) Wanek. Carrol graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1951 then from Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in 1954. Carrol married Harold Hochman on October 9, 1955 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Ellsworth. The couple divorced in 1975 and Harold passed in 2001. She was a Registered Nurse and worked as an Operating Room Director living in Kansas, California, and Oklahoma. During her time in Oklahoma, she was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. She also volunteered at the Samaritan House Food Pantry, was a part of St. John’s Martha’s Ministry, and was a Eucharistic Minister for the Church.

  Carrol is survived by her son Darrell Hochman of San Juan Capistrano. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Patricia Rippens, Kathrine Fleming, Dorthy Kremarick, Irene Hummel, Adeline Cunningham, Betty Praefke, and Mary Ann Kolarik; and brother Leo Wanek.

  A graveside memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 16, 2024 at Ellsworth Cemetery.
