Arthur Hurley Obituary

HOLYROOD

  Arthur Ray Hurley, 83, passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on July 3, 2026 at his daughter’s home in Newport, TN. He was born August 30, 1942 in Grand Junction, CO.

  Arthur lived in Bucklin, Dodge City, and Holyrood, KS, and spent the last nine years with his daughter in Newport. In his early years, he was a Boy Scout and went on to become an Eagle Scout. He served two years in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Holyrood American Legion Post 200. Arthur attended Dodge City Community College and worked for John Deere Tractor in Bucklin. He went on to work at Cashco, Inc. in Ellsworth, KS and then for a brief time at Great Bend Industries, before returning to Cashco, where he retired. After his retirement, he helped his wife Terri at the Great Bend Public Library on numerous projects. He then took care of Terri until her passing.

  His favorite song was Yellow Rose of Texas. His favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, writing songs, poetry, and telling jokes. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.

  Arthur was preceded in death by his father George Lawrence Hurley; mother Myrtle Lucille (Heikes) Hurley; wife Terrolynn Hurley; brothers, Wallace, Leroy, and Douglas all from Kansas, and Barry (Regina) from Tennessee; sisters, Amaryllis Weikle (Marvin) and Joyce Copeland (Jim) both from Kansas and Patricia Gehno from California; and his special friend Gary “Partner” McVey.

  Arthur is survived by daughter Sabrina Williams (Dennis) of Newport, TN; son Steve Hurley (Kara) of North Dakota; daughter Melody Wynn (Alvin) of Missouri; brothers, Jerry Hurley (Beverly) of California, Allen Hurley (Cindy) of Kansas, and Kenny Hurley (Connie) of Missouri; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  Special thanks to the VA in Tennessee, all the Silver Angels workers, and most especially to Heather Vance.

  Arthur will be honored at a service at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2026 at Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth with burial following at the St. Paul United Church of Christ Cemetery in Holyrood.
